Shibori is a Japanese term for several methods of dyeing cloth with a pattern by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, or compressing it.

We’ll explore many ways to fold fabric and clamp it between shapes to create patterns. The shapes can be wood blocks, plexiglass pieces, clothes pins, etc. Anything that will hold the folded fabric and create a resist for the dye.

Indigo dye baths will be mixed ahead of class but instructions will be given so students can learn how to mix Procion MX dyes if they want to pursue Shibori on their own.
Students will learn how to set and rinse their finished pieces.

All fabric and dye supplies included.
